R.O.C.C. Outreach

Reach our Community for Christ - R.O.C.C!

ROCC is all about being Christ in your community. You can choose to make a contact with a variety of people ranging from active members in your class to people visiting our church. You choose when and how these contacts will be made.
There are several ways to make a contact which include: writing notes, making calls, sending emails or texts, or personal visits. Participants are placed on a rotation list in each Sunday School group and serve once every 4-8 weeks. We encourage you to sign-up now in either your class or by calling the church education office. ROCC materials and supplies are available Sunday mornings in the Education Resource Room just across from the Parlor Kitchen on the north end of the E hallway.

ROCC will take place every week beginning the week of Sept. 11.

Here’s the big change for this year: instead of meeting at 4:45 in Room D101, assignments will be made electronically! Here’s how it works:

1. Each Sunday School group designates a person to be ROCC Coordinator. This person needs email. The ROCC Coordinator leads the group to establish a group of volunteers who will, on a rotational basis, make contacts each week with guests and members. Your rotation list may have 4, or 6, or even 12 individuals or couples, depending on the size and makeup of your group.

2. Each Monday morning, Education Ministry Assistant Janabeth Cook will prepare a report listing all guests attending the previous day and will email it to all ROCC Coordinators. The Coordinator will also have the group’s member list and guest list.

3. Coordinators will review the report and then email information on his or her group’s guests to that week’s rotational volunteer. The Coordinator will also assign the rotational volunteer names of class members or absentees or guests or others who need to be contacted. If that week’s volunteer does not have email, the Coordinator will need to call them with the information.

4. The Rotational Volunteer will make the contacts as assigned. These can be made by email, mail, text, call, or personal visit, at their discretion and as appropriate.

5. The volunteer will then email or call David Nobles at dnobles@fbc-midland.org or 683-0611 OR Janabeth Cook at jcook@fbc-midland.org or 683-0612 to let them know who was contacted and how. This needs to be done by 1 pm Wednesday. Be sure to tell Janabeth or David what group you are reporting for!

6. David will contact the ROCC Coordinator of any group he or Janabeth doesn’t hear from to see how things are going.

7. ROCC materials and supplies are available Sunday morning in the Education Resource Room, just across the hall from the Parlor Kitchen, on the north end of the E Hallway. The ROCC Coordinator will need to pick up any supplies his or her volunteers will need that week. This room is open all week so materials are constantly available.

8. Any card written by volunteers can be brought to the church office anytime and they will be mailed.

We must let people know they are welcome and appreciated. Please consider being part of this vitally important ministry!

For more information contact David Nobles, dnobles@fbc-midland.org or 683-0611.

Organizing your group to participate in ROCC: leading your group to SEEK those far from God and ATTRACT those who are pursuing God.

1. Recruit as many people as possible in your group to participate in the ROCC rotation. Organize them into one or two-person teams

2. One or two people serve each ROCC Sunday. If two serve, they should be either a couple, 2 men or 2 ladies.

3. Give them a reminder the week prior to their Sunday.

4. Receive via email on Monday the report of all guests who attended the day before. Go through the report and send information on your group’s guests to your weekly volunteer. Supplement this with contact information on members or guests or absentees in your group who have special needs or are in need of a contact.

5. Lead by example—occasionally take a week to be the person who makes the contacts.

6. As new people join your group be sure to get them involved in this ministry.

7. If your rotational volunteer does not report his or her weekly contacts to David Nobles or Janabeth Cook by 1 pm Wednesday, David will contact you and you will then follow up gracefully with your volunteer. Encourage your volunteers to consistently make their contacts in a timely fashion and provide a report to David or Janabeth.

ROCC Participant
First Baptist Church, Midland, Texas. Reach Our Community for Christ

Your involvement in ROCC fulfills our church’s vision for your personal growth and also our effort to touch the lives of others by SEEKING those far from God and ATTRACTING those who are pursuing God.

1. You will receive an email on Monday from your group’s ROCC Coordinator with contact information on guests or members who need a contact.

2. Your group’s Coordinator can provide you with a variety of items including: Stationery, Maps, Promotional material about various aspects of First Baptist and our beliefs, Gospel pamphlets, and more. You can also pick up these materials at the Education Resource Room, across the hall from the Parlor Kitchen, on the north end of the E Hallway.

3. Based on your level of comfort, desire and area of strength different kinds of contacts can be made. These include:

a. Visits, calls or notes (VCN) to guests who have attended (we have cards and stationery available for writing handwritten notes). Notes can be hand-written, emails, or texts.

c. VCN to guests who have not attended. This could include people new to the community, friends or neighbors, those who only attend worship, or people whom we met through special events or Vacation Bible School.

d. VCN to guests or members who have special needs, are homebound, sick, etc. You may be aware of people in your group who are in those situations. You can also check with your ROCC Coordinator for this information.

e. VCN to members who have not recently attended.

f. VCN to members who attend regularly. We sometimes don’t take time to encourage these people. You may ask if there is something you can pray for them about.

4. Pray for the guests and members you contact through this ministry.

5. After you make your contacts, please email David Nobles at dnobles@fbc-midland.org (or text at 432-638-0161 or call 683-0611) or Janabeth Cook at jcook@fbc-midland.org or 683-0612 and let them know who you contacted, how they were contacted, and if you received any feedback from the contact. Please be sure to say which group you are reporting for. Please make this report no later than Wednesday at 1 pm.

Please don’t pass any confidential information to us. Remember that how you invest in peoples’ lives should become a part of your everyday awareness and lifestyle. We encourage you to continue to develop a relationship with people you meet through this ministry. You are an extension of God’s love, which was faithful and gracious to us in that while we were still sinners He offered us salvation and life.
