ALPHA

Alpha is "a practical introduction to the Christian faith." It is a great way for us to tell our friends what life with Jesus is all about, and it also provides discipleship for Christians. We want church members to invite non-Christian friends to the course, and they will then hear the principles of Christianity explained in a relational, non-threatening, logically ordered, and interesting way.

Alpha is 11 weeks plus a weekend away (for details on ALPHA Weekend, click here), beginning February 1 thru April 18 (with the exception of March 14, spring break week). Our Wednesday night schedule will be:

4:45--Fellowship Meal opens ($5)
5:15--We hope most folks are here by this time. Bring the kids.
5:50--Parents take kids to their activities
6:00--Worship and The Talk (by Pastor Randel Everett)
6:50--Dismiss to Small Groups
7:00--Small Groups begin
7:50--Small Groups dismiss, parents pick up kids.

Alpha has 3 elements: a fellowship meal, a large group talk, and a small group discussion of that talk. Everything is designed for people to relax, enjoy the evening, and be able to really dig in to that night's topic. No question about life or God is too simple, too hostile, or out of bounds. Topics include things like What is the point of life? Who is Jesus, and why did he die? Why and how do I pray? How does God guide us? What happens when we die? Is forgiveness possible? How can I make the most of the rest of my life?

Alpha came out of the Church of England in the late 70s. Over the years it has grown and developed. It is used world-wide by churches of all stripes--in fact more than 100 denominational groups have sponsored an Alpha Course, involving more than 16 million people speaking 83 languages in 169 countries. Millions of lives have been changed.

Check it out for yourself--plan to join us for the meal, the talk, and small groups. And invite a friend to come with you.
